The name Bucktown comes from the community’s former residents who were mainly goat herders and named their home after the term for a male goat. Bucktown is anything but livestock today, and now is predominately a booming artists’ community with many galleries, trendy restaurants, clothing boutiques and an annual art festival. The neighborhood borders hip nightlife spots such as the Milwaukee/North and Damen intersection and the Wicker Park neighborhood, but retains a small town feel from it’s earlier days via its several parks, old architecture, quaint churches and tree-lined streets.
