Lakeview is a community in northern Chicago divided into three sub-neighborhoods – Lakeview East, West Lakeview and Wrigleyville. Lakeview East, nicknamed Boystown, is Chicago’s largest community for the LGBT population and is home to the mother church of the Archdiocese Gay and Lesbian Outreach, one of the largest LGBT Catholic welcoming congregation authorized by a diocese in the United States. Residentially, Lakeview East consists of mainly upscale condominiums, lofts and apartments. The area has a large shopping center with national brand stores as well as a few independent restaurants and boutiques. Lakeview East also contains North Halsted, the nation’s first officially recognized gay communities and a center for LGBT nightlife. West Lakeview, the second sub-neighborhood, largely consists of single-family homes. It is attractive for its many antique stores as well as a large park with athletic fields, a community pool and plenty of green space. Wrigleyville is home to the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Stadium and much of the sports-bar filled neighborhood centers around this famous landmark. Mid-rise and high-rise buildings populate the area and several buildings include rooftop bleachers for watching games at the stadium live, from home.
